Lars and Jonathan are turning 50. Come join the party!
We have rented the entire spot of the Nature Friend’s House at Zwingenberger Hof from Friday, July 25 to Sunday, July 27, 2025.
There are over 200 Nature Friend’s Houses in Germany and the organizations date back to the early 20th Century. The Zwingenberger Hof is run by a small team of volunteers who maintain the property and keep the project running.
The Zwingenberger Hof offers over 2 acres of space and includes a guesthouse with a total of 35 beds spread out over 8 rooms (see Accommodations for the breakdown), 3 construction trailers converted into sleeping huts, and a large green space directly on the Neckar river that doubles as a campsite.
It is very important to mention the lack of parking on site. We ask our guests, if possible, to arrive by train and bicycle (the next S-bahn station is a very short bike ride away). We will look to coordinate ride-sharing and also a shuttle from the S-bahn station (see below for more information on ride-sharing).
We will spend the weekend celebrating life with our friends and families. Everyone is invited to chip in as much as he or she is able to or has the desire to do. We will make use of the large kitchen in the guesthouse to prepare dinner on Friday evening and lunch on Saturday morning for everyone. Helping hands are welcome to join in the fun. We will have a (rough) plan and there will be a bulletin board to sign up, but we’ll also be spontaneous. For Saturday evening, we will have dinner catered. Breakfast on Saturday and Sunday will be a self-serve buffet. Of course, there will also be cake. We will welcome contributions to the cake buffet. More on that later.
In terms of the festivities and activities, we would invite anyone who would like to offer something, be it music, theater, yoga etc., to let us know. In particular, if you have an idea for the children’s program (all ages will be represented), feel free to suggest something. There will be live music and if you want to join the act, let us know. Of course, there are some attractions very close to our site, like the Zwingenberg castle or the Wolf Canyon trail.
In order to best organize accommodations, please respond as soon as possible if you’re interested in staying the guesthouse or in one of construction trailers (though know that the trailers are in the middle of the action), or if a tent will suffice. We can also help in finding a hotel or BnB offsite if you’d like. Let us know.
None of the rooms in the guesthouse have private bathrooms or running water. There are common bathrooms, and hot showers require a few coins (we’ll have some ready).
We will also offer a page for coordinating travel to and from Zwingenberg.
